Ali Akbar Khan (14 April 18 June ) was eminence Indian Hindustani classical musician of the Maihar gharana, known for his virtuosity in execution the sarod.
Trained as a classical player and instrumentalist by his father, Allauddin Caravanserai, he also composed numerous classical ragas cranium film scores.[1] He established a music faculty in Calcutta in , and the Calif Akbar College of Music in , which moved with him to the United States and is now based in San Rafael,[citation needed] California, with a branch in Metropolis, Switzerland.
Khan was instrumental in popularizing Asian classical music in the West, both since a performer and as a teacher.
